Frequently Asked Questions
If your question isn't here, reach out — I'm happy to answer.
- What does a session cost, and do you take insurance?
- Sessions are $240 for 50 minutes. I'm currently out-of-network with most insurance plans, but I can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Please don't let the fee deter you from reaching out. Many plans reimburse a significant portion of out-of-network therapy — often up to 70% — once your deductible is met, just as they would for other medical expenses. I'm happy to help you check your out-of-network benefits and can call your insurance to determine your eligibility. - What's a superbill, and how does reimbursement work?
- A superbill is an itemized receipt with the diagnostic and billing codes your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. Many PPO plans reimburse a portion of out-of-network therapy costs. I recommend calling your insurance before we start to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
- Is sliding-scale pricing available?
- A limited number of sliding-scale slots are available. Please reach out to discuss.
- Do you offer telehealth, in-person, or both?
- Both. I have an in-person office in Fremont, CA, and I offer telehealth video sessions to clients anywhere in California.
- What's a first session like?
- The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask about what's bringing you to therapy, your history, and your goals. It's also your opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for whether we're a good fit. There's no pressure — it's just a conversation.
- How is my information kept confidential?
- Everything discussed in therapy is confidential, with very limited exceptions required by law (such as immediate risk of harm to yourself or others). I follow HIPAA guidelines and use secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms for all telehealth sessions and communications.
- What areas do you serve?
- My in-person office is in Fremont, CA, convenient for clients in Bay Area communities. Via telehealth, I work with clients throughout California.
- What are your credentials and license?
- I hold a PhD in Counseling Psychology, am licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor in California (LPCC #22006), and am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I also serve as faculty at Palo Alto University.
